Super King from Chennai wins it again (for Dakus)

After a long time I was in a Dakus’ match again, but this time as a spectator. By the time I reached the ground, Titan’s innings was over and Dakus were chasing a stiff 90 for victory. Amit who hit 3 fours was out just before I reached the ground. I was like: oh man, I missed a lot of fun. As it turned out I really didn’t. The best innings was just waiting for me to cheer up. It came from Raghu who on his day can destroy any attack in the league. I have myself enjoyed bowling to Raghu in our practice matches and I have to admit, and with due respect to Amit, Pawan and Mayank, it’s Raghu who I have always found to be most challenging. All 4 pack a lot of punch in their shots but I think Raghu’s height is his advantage. Where others find some balls short and fall victim to a lofted catches, Raghu can easily reach the ball while standing at the crease and still can clear the boundary easily. That’s one of the reason I always found it difficult to bowl to Raghu. He can hit good balls out of the ground. When he is in “mood”, the margin of error for bowler is very little. With so much skills, he’s undeservingly little short in batting stats and I believe the only reason is in his mind. I think his role model should be Rohit Sharma. Take it easy in the beginning and slowly start building tempo when you start connecting the balls better. In a way he’s very similarly skilled as RS. He has classical defense coupled with precise big shots. Let’s hope to see many such innings from him in the coming matches. Let’s keep the momentum going, Dakus !!

  1. Rajeev, thats for the post. It was a good win especially after the lose from previous week.

We had a good start, both Mukund and Suri found the gaps and kept the score moving. Amit, with his characteristic shots, provided the needed initial acceleration. Pawan provided good support with sensible batting but unfortunately got run out the same way in the last two games.

With a solid start and with good acceleration from middle order, it was easy to reach the finish line.

  2. I didn’t mean to neglect the team effort. I saw glimpses of Dakus innings because I had my son with me and not only did he have a lot of questions about cricket, he also wanted me to show some of the things that he wanted to know. I know Dakus victories more often than not have come with solid team effort. So keep winning Team Dakus…
